Raíces Spring 2026 Bienvenida Lunch
Raíces is excited to welcome students back for the spring semester with our Spring 2026 Bienvenida Lunch! February 11, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. La Plazita (Raíces Student Center), WCC 206.
Join us for a fun and welcoming event where you can connect with other students, meet Raíces staff, and learn about the resources available to support you this semester. We’ll be serving catered empanadas from Buena Onda (carne, chicken, and vegetarian options), along with refreshments and music to help kick off the semester with good energy. This is a great opportunity to build community, reconnect, and start the semester feeling supported and motivated.

The Power of Counterstory with Dr. Martín Alberto Gonzalez
Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the MacDougall Administration Center, A-160.
Dr. Martín Alberto Gonzalez is a first-generation Xicano raised in Oxnard, California. He completed his undergraduate studies at California State University, Northridge, then earned his doctorate from the Cultural Foundations of Education Department at Syracuse University, where he became the first Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellow in the university’s history. Aside from being a university professor, he is regularly invited to K-12 schools as a guest speaker, and even has a TEDx talk titled, “Boxnard,” which is available on YouTube and is now a bilingual children’s book and an award-winning short film animation.
